My Services
- Edge Computing – native code on your device.
- Display Automation – Develop a kiosk with low cost and high availability.
- IoT – measure and forward lots of data at many moments.
- AI/LLVM – Smart analysis of camera images or text using AI or compiled native logic via LLVM.
- Streaming – Stream management, smart handling of RTMP stream(s)
- PWA – a 'native-like' app for Android or iPhone
- IAM – OpenID and OAuth2 can be overwhelming for your solution, I help you navigate it.
About Nierop Computer Vision
Who I am
I'm Egbert Nierop – specialist, autodidact and out-of-the-box thinker with years of experience in both small and large teams. I have completed a management training and know how to motivate, guide and lead a team. Still, my biggest passion is technology: from native development to AI and embedded automation.
When needed, I collaborate with experts from my network, like my brother Peter Nierop, who works internationally on similar technical topics.
New challenges motivate me. Here's a photo of myself during a mountain bike tour through the Eifel in Germany — because technology and adventure often go hand in hand.
My Approach
And some examples:Efficient – Fast, native software directly on your device, without cloud latency.
Pragmatic, not dogmatic – I choose what works – Python, C#, or C++ – depending on your needs.
On-device – My solutions run locally, fast and secure, without vendor lock-in or cloud delays.
Cost-effective – Real-time image or text analysis with OpenCV, PyTorch or custom-compiled LLVM code. I may recommend own hardware over cloud use.
Prefer PWA – I prefer a PWA over native apps to avoid vendor lock-in and high development costs.
Sometimes microservices – I'm not religious about it. Sometimes a flat stack works better.
Preferably no frameworks
In my experience, frameworks have a short lifecycle and high maintenance overhead. On an edge device: zero libraries if possible. This leads to fast UX and minimal footprint.
Cloud vs Self-hosting
Some tools (like whisper.cpp) are perfectly suited for local GPU-based hosting, saving you cloud costs. But yes, sometimes cloud tools are the right choice, like Azure Storage, AWS S3, Redis, SQL.
I don’t claim to know everything, but I love to think along with you and solve problems.
